The move came as a consequence of Visa and Mastercard announcing Thursday that they’d prohibit the use of their cards on the pornography site. It’s alleged that all 40 victims named in the suit became suicidal over the harassment they received from their videos being spread online without their consent. According to The Mercury News based out of California, Garcia, 31, was sentenced for conspiracy and sex trafficking involving San Diego-based website GirlsDoPorn. Owners Michael James Pratt and Matthew Isaac Wolfe, along with two employees, have been charged in a US federal court with sex-trafficking crimes. Pornhub and other MindGeek sites removed the Girls Do Porn channel as soon as the charges were made – but the complaint alleges that “at this point, there was no longer a company left for MindGeek to partner with”. Payment providers Mastercard and Visa have cut ties with the site after a New York Times investigation accused it of hosting child abuse and rape-related content.

The videos also reached millions of viewers after Girls Do Porn uploaded them to Pornhub and other porn tube sites, where women were often doxed in the comments. The doxing in turn led to the women being harassed at their jobs and schools. Multiple women said the harassment was so vicious that they contemplated suicide.
Women Settle Lawsuit With Pornhub Over San Diego-Based GirlsDoPorn Content
Most of the videos created as a part of the conspiracy were shot at hotels or short-term rental units in the San Diego area. If one of the victims agreed to act in the pornographic video, Garcia and his co-conspirators promptly booked flights to San Diego within a day or two to limit the chances that the victim would change her mind. After the victim arrived at the hotel or short-term rental unit, Garcia would continue to falsely assure them that the videos would not be posted online and that no one who knew the victims would see – or even know about – the videos.
- The suit alleges MindGeek’s business partnership with GirlsDoPorn continued through late 2019 and only ended because GirlsDoPorn ceased to exist amid a Department of Justice sex trafficking investigation and a civil lawsuit filed in San Diego Superior Court.
- This time, in the case of 22 women who were deceived and coerced by Michael Pratt, owner of GirlsDoPorn, into performing sex acts on film that were subsequently uploaded to Pornhub.
- Fifty victims who were coerced into having sex on camera by Girls Do Porn have reached a settlement with MindGeek, Pornhub’s parent company, according to a court document filed Friday.
- Pornhub and other MindGeek sites removed the Girls Do Porn channel as soon as the charges were made – but the complaint alleges that “at this point, there was no longer a company left for MindGeek to partner with”.

And because it seems Pornhub will only consider removing videos when they are flagged, there are most likely traffickers earning money right now on the site. In our pornified culture, pornography disrupts how men interact with women. By better understanding the biological realities of our sexual development, we can cultivate healthier sexual perspectives and interpersonal relationships. This dynamic of you against the mob is what makes porn exploitation different from all other forms of sexual exploitation. Rose Kalemba was 14 when she was brutally raped by two men for 12 hours while a 3rd man filmed the incident. A few months later as she was scrolling online she found herself tagged in a link.

“As early as 2009, and definitely by fall 2016, MindGeek knew Girls Do Porn was trafficking its victims by using fraud, coercion, and intimidation,” the court complaint says. This came after both Visa and Mastercard withdrew their services from Pornhub, and US lawmakers introduced a bill which, if passed, would allow sex-trafficking and revenge-porn victims to sue site hosts like Pornhub. “I was told this video went to a private viewer, and now it is all over the internet. I was lied to, and this isn’t okay,” another plaintiff said in a 2016 message to MindGeek. A third plaintiff told MindGeek “me and other girls are being brutally harassed.” But even if the stigma against porn and its performers didn’t exist, there would still be sex trafficking and exploitation.
In many cases, these videos ended up on mainstream porn sites like Pornhub. NBC reports the suit alleged MindGeek’s business partnership with GirlsDoPorn continued through late 2019 and only ended because GirlsDoPorn ceased to exist amid a Department of Justice sex trafficking investigation. Young women who applied were later told the work in fact involved making pornographic videos.
The sex for the video shoots was rough and caused many victims pain, and in some cases bleeding. In response, Garcia and others told the victims that they had to continue and finish the videos. Victims were also often paid significantly less than originally promised with Garcia and others would citing a tattoo, a mole, or some other perceived “imperfection” to pay the victim less. When victims expressed hesitation, Garcia directed other young women to contact the victims and falsely reassure them that the videos would not be posted online and that none of the victims’ friends, families, colleagues or classmates would find out. Young women were selected as references, because Garcia, Pratt and Matthew Wolfe believed the victims were more likely to believe other young women over Garcia or Pratt.
A judge ruled in favor of the women in January 2020, ordering Girls Do Porn to pay them $12.7 million in damages and granting them ownership rights to the content. He and his co-conspirators are accused of posting internet ads about modeling jobs to lure young women before pressuring and manipulating them into shooting sex tapes. Investigators said they lied to the women, saying that the videos would not be widely disseminated because they were for a private collector overseas and they would remain anonymous. However, Girls Do Porn distributed the videos after they were shot, and they appeared on popular porn websites. Now Pornhub claims to have strict rules around the type of content they allow, and claim to forbid illegal and underage content. But tell that to Rose Kalemba who, in 2009, discovered her rape as a 14-year-old broadcasted all over Pornhub.
Victims were told that the contracts they were presented with simply said what the victims had already been told, including that the videos would not be posted online. Nowhere on the contract could the reader find a reference to “girlsdoporn,” “girlsdotoys” or pornography at all. The companies were instead identified with innocuous names, such as Bubblegum Casting. Pornhub listed the official Girls Do Porn channels as a “Content Partner”, and only removed it as a partner after the owners and employees of the ring—by then already embroiled in the civil trial—were charged with federal sex trafficking counts. The plaintiffs claim that Pornhub had a policy to never take action against Content Partner videos, and that videos’ popularity rather than the evidence of the victim’s lack of consent.
