13 Ways to Run Successful Remote Meetings

Remote meetings are an essential aspect of collaboration, especially for distributed teams. If you do not adhere to the proper etiquette for meetings, they can be less effective than in-person meetings. Virtual meetings can pop over to these guys benefit from a variety of the same strategies used to make in-person meetings productive and enjoyable. Here are 13 tips from Forbes Coaches Council members on how to organize a successful remote meeting:

1. Use an agenda.

To avoid being lost in the conversation, start your meeting with an organized agenda. If possible, create an agenda in advance, incorporating input from attendees, and then present it at beginning of the meeting.

2. Encourage everyone to speak out.

A few people are reluctant to attend online meetings because they fear dominating the conversation or being interrupted. Think about using a conference call camera and microphone to block out background noises and amplify all voices equally. Make sure to ask questions or make comments after the meeting so that everyone is heard.

3. Focus on action items, and follow-up.

Many times, meetings end with a vague list of actions and no clear follow up plan. To combat this, agree on how the actions will be documented and followed up at the beginning of the meeting, and then review them at the conclusion of the meeting. It’s also an excellent idea to schedule follow-up individual meetings or a second team meeting within a realistic time frame.
